Monarda, aka Bee Balm, shows up early in the season here in the Piedmont of NC, attracting hummingbirds and all sorts of pretty, flying things. The flowers are a flavorful addition to salads. But it’s those mopish heads that I love so much—standing tall and proud. Monarda: the Muppet of the summer garden.
